I discovered Paraguay in 2017, and I've been a permanent resident ever since.
In between, I spent almost 3 years undocumented in Argentina on an expired tourist visa — no longer possible to replicate since Milei took office.

Lorenzo is a friend from Veneto who used to run Hostal Mediterráneo, listed on Booking and Hostelworld, in downtown Asunción — now run by another Italian friend.
Lorenzo has long handled temporary and permanent residencies, including for digital nomads, through Paraguay Voyager. Following recent, small-but-important reforms, he now offers residency and cédula for USD 1,400 in a single trip.
